Born in 1970: the Metal Dog
If you were born in 1970, your Chinese zodiac sign is the Dog 狗, and the year's Heavenly Stem is Geng, which gives the year its element: Metal. So a full 1970 reading is a Metal Dog. People born in 1970 turn 56 years old in 2026 (or have already, depending on the birthday).
The one exception: January and February birthdays
The Chinese zodiac year does not start on January 1. In 1970, Lunar New Year fell on 1970-02-06. Anyone born in 1970 before that date belongs to the previous year's animal — use the homepage finder with an exact birth date and it handles the boundary for you.
Metal Dog personality, briefly
Loyal, fair-minded and quietly anxious on behalf of everyone they love, the Dog is the friend who actually shows up. Dogs have a sharp sense for dishonesty and a stubborn streak when a principle is at stake. The Metal stem is traditionally said to shade that character — Metal adds precision, resolve and a taste for high standards. One sentence is all a birth year can honestly carry; the rest is entertainment.
